A Feel Good Holiday Food Drive.
This year has taken a toll on families across the nation, especially in smaller communities like Seaside. Health concerns, lockdowns, business closures, COVID-19 continues to creep its way around the world with no real end in sight. At Urbn Leaf, we truly value helping others Feel Good during their tough times. As we push through the tail end of 2020, we wanted to lighten spirits and spread some holiday cheer. For the next two weeks, we are partnering with Kiva, Big Pete’s Treats, and Plus Products to host a virtual food drive benefiting the Monterey County Food Bank.
What does the Monterey County Food Bank do?
The Monterey County Food Bank is working to end hunger and transform the health of our community through good nutrition. They are the largest, most comprehensive provider of emergency supplemental food in our community. Monterey County is the childhood poverty capital of California with a 30.3% childhood poverty rate plus there are more homeless students than San Francisco & San Jose combined. The Food Bank serves as the central distribution ‘hub’ providing high-quality food, fresh produce, and educational & nutritional resources to over 160 local nonprofit network members. As a result, the Food Bank has been serving more than 60,000 families monthly at drive-up sites since the pandemic hit.
