The cannabis industry has been a wild ride, to put it mildly. Despite the tough times, we’ve created some amazing memories and continue to build a loyal community of Feel Good Family members. In honor of our 4th birthday, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, what we’ve overcome, and what you can expect from us in the next year.
For those who aren’t familiar with our company history, we opened the doors to the first (medical-only) Urbn Leaf dispensary in Bay Park, San Diego in March of 2017 with a staff of about 15 employees.
When recreational adult-use sales went into effect in January 2018, we were one of the first dispensaries in the state granted our temporary license. New regulations for adult-use sales were published in November of 2017, so our team spent many long nights throughout December re-labeling products, revising packaging, and prepping new compliance requirements for the first day of recreational sales on January 1.
During this already chaotic time near the end of December in 2017, we partnered up with our friends at Eaze on their delivery operations in the San Diego region. This was our first major partnership that added approximately 100 new team members into our Feel Good Fam. Towards the beginning of November 2018, we merged with Southwest Patient Group to join forces and make the Urbn Leaf brand more accessible to the San Ysidro area.
Since then, we’ve expanded up the coast from San Ysidro to San Jose, grown the brand from one retail store to seven, and brought on over 400 employees.
Despite the pandemic, we successfully opened three new stores in La Mesa, San Jose, and Vista plus we launched our own delivery service in San Diego and Grover Beach. Over the next year you can expect to see new Urbn Leaf products come to market, exclusive collaborations with legendary cannabis brands, and another retail store opening in La Mesa.
As we dive into this next year of growth, we want to take a second to show our appreciation to those who have been there to ride the wave with us these past four years.
